What We Do
The Black Caucus Alliance is committed to addressing systemic barriers and advocating for the empowerment of Black communities in Mississauga. We focus on collaboration, advocacy, and community-driven solutions to create a more equitable future for all. Our work spans across various sectors, from political engagement to economic empowerment, and we are proud of the positive impact we’ve made so far.

Our Core Focus Areas
Political Engagement
We work to increase access to political power for Black communities, ensuring that their voices are heard in city decisions that affect them.
Economic Empowerment
We strive to promote opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and financial literacy within Black communities.
Policing & Safety
Our efforts aim to improve relationships between Black communities and law enforcement, advocating for fair treatment and safety for all residents.
Health & Wellness
We focus on improving both physical and mental health outcomes for Black communities, addressing disparities in healthcare access and outcomes.
Community Access
We advocate for equitable access to city resources, services, and programs, ensuring that no one is left behind due to systemic barriers.
Previous Initiatives
01
Community Consultations and Public Forums (2021)
In collaboration with City of Mississauga, local leaders and organizations, we’ve hosted numerous public forums to foster meaningful dialogue and encourage civic engagement. These forums served as a platform for residents to share their experiences and voice their concerns on critical issues affecting Black communities.
02
First Steps Report (2022)
Following the series of public consultations to gather insights from Black community members, these engagements culminated in the First Steps Report. This comprehensive document contains 58 actionable recommendations aimed at improving equity in areas such as health, policing, political participation, and economic empowerment.
03
Collaborative Advocacy with City Officials
We have worked closely with Mississauga’s elected officials and city leadership team to bring about policy changes that support Black communities, including efforts to address over-policing, promote affordable housing, and enhance community access to resources.
